Welcome at the module deals with Decision Making.
My name is Jiri Krupka and I am a member of the Faculty of Transport Engineering at the University of Pardubice. I deal with a system modelling and decision making support in my more twenty years academic carrier.
I would like to present my module which is focused on a decision making process in transportation.

Sure, all of us have met with an application of decision making in your private and academic life. Of course, you have listened about key words like a decision problem, decision making, decision maker etc.

Do you know Why is important to understand a decision making over the centuries? Because the decision making is a process undertaken by an individual or organization. Because this process is to improve the future position of the individual or organization in terms of one of more criteria.

In this module we will show and discuss knowledge and build skills which deal with decision in areas of management science and computing science.
The making of the good decision requires a sound decision making process because it is never possible to identify what is the best option.

After completing this module:
You will understand the conceptual foundations of decision making.
You will recognize Simon’s four phases of decision making process.
You will practise decision making methods for selection of the best option.
And you will study how to solve a practical decision problem.
