Today, cities are confronted with many challenges and are looking for new efficient transport solutions to relieve existing infrastructure, improve public space and promote sustainable modes of transport. Sustainable Urban Mobility seeks to find an answer to how to combine the interests of the inhabitants of the urban area under consideration with safety, parking, freight solutions, the creation of public space with a preference for public transport, walking and cycling.
Some cities in the EU countries are progressively developing, implementing or already monitoring the results of Strategic Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) and Strategic Urban Mobility Frameworks (SUMFs). However, there are cities that have not yet implemented urban mobility planning in a wider context. But they should, because the structure of cities and the lifestyles that result from it will have a significant impact on the state of the climate, energy efficiency, the environment and ultimately the health of us all.
Therefore, choose one city (in any European Union country) and focus your project on sustainable mobility in that city.
