Although the history of cargo bikes is almost as old as the bike itself, in Europe and the United States, modern cargo bikes have become to be used more widely only few years ago. Cargo bikes can be used in various ways from commercial transport in courier, post and delivery services to personal use for household logistics. Cargo bikes are environmentally friendly transport modes. Conventional motor vehicles used in last mile delivery systems produce large amounts of CO₂, which can be reduced by replacing the part of the total number of motor vehicles with the cargo bikes.
