About Lesson
Quality without a name – the value of historic buildings in inner city development
- Historic structures in the city have built up over the course of
a process stretching over time. They are a record of the civilizational and cultural development of a community. - Usually downtown is the oldest part of a city, so cultural heritage elements are concentrated there.
- They are a carrier of identity, structural and visual specific of the city, which makes them particularly valuable.
- They must be protected as the heritage of a given community or of mankind as a whole, because often, what constitutes its value does not conform to modern usability requirements.
